THE SWAN SYMBOL AND THE LOGOTYPE NORDEN - THE NORDIC LOGO

THE SWAN SYMBOL AND THE LOGOTYPE NORDEN - THE NORDIC LOGO

The swan symbol is a stylised white swan with eight quills in a blue circle. The Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic Council originally introduced the “swan” as their official symbol in 1985.  Its eight quills represent the five Nordic countries, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and the three autonomous territories – the Faroe Islands, Greenland and the Åland Islands.

As a regular visitor of our home page you may have noticed that the appearance of the home page and the Nordic logo has changed. Our new web address is www.norden.lv. You will be able to e-mail staff by writing the person’s name followed by “norden.lv”. The old addresses, however, will also be valid for quite some time. In order to strengthen the visual profile of Nordic co-operation, a new logo has been launched. Since May last year the Nordic logo has consisted of two elements: the swan symbol combined with the title “Norden” or “Pohjola” in Finnish. The Swan symbol must never be used alone, only together with the title “Norden” or “Pohjola”.
